GENERAL INFORMATION

Membership into Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. is by invitation only. In order to initially be considered for membership, one must be matriculated as a full-time student at an accredited four-year college or university and pursuing or in possession of a Bachelor degree. A full-time student is recognized as taking 12 or more credits (or the equivalent) per semester.

The Eta Iota Chapter consists of a group of a action-oriented, community conscious, self-motivated young women. Therefore, we are interested in such young women to join our chapter. While we strongly encourage young women to be active in their local communities as well as their campus communities, we remind you to keep a healthy balance in your life. Becoming a Zeta and being a Zeta is a lot of hard work and consumes a lot of time. We do not encourage you to overload yourself so as to not have neither the time nor the energy to devote to your duties and studies.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: What is the first step to become a Zeta?

A: There is a process in the becoming a Zeta. The first thing we suggest is that you actually contact and get to know the members of the local chapter. If you do not reach out to these ladies and inform them of your interest, they will not know that you may be a prospective member.

Q: How do I show that I'm interested?

A: Showing your interest is an ongoing process and is vital if one wishes to be invited into the organization and chapter. There are many things you can do to show your interest such as continually keeping in contact with the chapter members; attending programs/events sponsored by the chapter; offering your assistance to the chapter members. These are just a few suggestions, but you can be creative!

Q: Does it help if I tell a Sigma that I'm interested in becoming a Zeta?

A: No. Please realize that Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. and Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. are two separate organizations. Although we love our constitutionally bound fraternity brothers, we are not the same organization. A Sigma cannot make you become a Zeta any more than a Zeta can make someone become a Sigma.

Q: If I'm interested in becoming a Zeta, is it okay for me to attend events sponsored by other Black Greek Letter Organizations (BGLO)?

A: Sure! Why not? All BGLOs were founded with the purpose of serving and informing our local and college communities. We encourage you to attend our programs and those sponsored by other organizations, as we do ourselves.

Q: If I become a Zeta, do I have the make the organization my first priority?

A: No. As an undergraduate, your first priority is school. One of our founding tenents is Scholarship. We neither expect you nor want you to compromise your studies for the organization. As a member, you will have duties in your local chapter, but we hope you will learn time management and never put anything before your education.
